Communications Intern (Spring 2019)

Launch your career with an industry leader! SmithBucklin, an Association Management Company that provides professional services and strategic leadership to nonprofit organizations, is looking for a Communications Intern to join the DC team in spring 2019. This position will play a critical role in delivering services to four of SmithBucklin's key clients in support of their event campaigns, including collateral development and delivery, writing for various audiences across different media channels and interacting with teammates and client team. This fast-paced, multi-client environment offers a rich professional learning experience across a host of marketing communications disciplines and competencies and exposure to varied industries and the healthcare field.
In addition to hands-on learning through client work, SmithBucklin interns will participate in weekly cohort-based educational and professional development opportunities each Friday morning from 10:00am ? 12:00pm local time. By attending presentations, group discussions, workshops and networking events, our interns will learn about association management career opportunities while finessing the relationship building, collaboration, teamwork and presentation skills required to thrive in today's workforce.
Internship Program Components:
18 total paid hours of work per week - 16 hours of on-the-job training and 2 hours of cohort-based educational and professional development workshops
Paid half-day orientation on Friday, January 18, 2019
Program officially begins week of January 21, 2019 and concludes week of April 29, 2019
Comprehensive performance evaluation at the end of the program
Competitive hourly pay
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Draft and manage distribution of client marketing communications, including email, website, and social media channels
Coordinate marketing collateral from copywriting through production
Prepare and code e-mail communications
Use e-mail platform to manage lists and send communications
Assist with other projects as need (e.g. print production support, etc.)
Basic Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. citizen and resident of the DC metro area
Enrolled Undergraduate Seniors in Marketing, Integrated Communications or Digital Marketing degree programs with strong writing focus
Able to commit to working 18 hours in-office weekly
Available to attend professional development sessions in person on Friday mornings
Self-starter and detail-oriented individual with strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to multitask and hit numerous deadlines simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Comfortable with social media
Familiar with HTML Coding

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
