TOWN OF WASHINGTON TOWN TREASURER Town Treasurer part time position reports to the Board of Selectmen, Town Accountant, Finance Committee and works closely with other town departments.
Hours are Monday evenings from 7pm to 9pm and as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Identifies and receives all money due the town, and pays all town bills; Process payroll and oversees employee retirement and insurance; Maintains a cash book and custody of trust funds; Responsible for borrowing funds for the town and maintains all necessary paper work; Responsible for and maintains Tax Title Records; Maintains custody of town's financial documents including insurance policies, foreclosure property; Reconcile all bank and investment accounts, close and reconcile all books.
Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance; background in municipal finance desirable; proficient in Microsoft Office also preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
